Amie Smith

Amie received her masters in occupational therapy from the Dominican University of California in San Rafael, California. Previously, she received a Bachelor’s of Science in human development and family studies, with a minor in developmental disabilities from the University of Nevada in Reno. Born and raised in a small town in Nevada, Amie is familiar with the many obstacles that rural and other underserved communities face when it comes to health disparities and is passionate about addressing them.

Amie has always had a desire for helping others of all ages and backgrounds, but has found the most joy connecting to and working with children and their families. She enjoys her ability to be a part of families’ lives as they support their children throughout their development. Amie's experience includes working with children - toddlers through adolescence with varying abilities ranging from; physical, emotional, developmental delays, and children with sensory processing differences. Amie has worked in the clinical setting and outdoor settings with both therapy groups and individuals. Amie has past experience and training with Handwriting Without Tears, the Alert Program: How Does Your Engine Run, Zones of Regulation, as well as mindfulness and grounding strategies.

Amie is excited to be a part of the Little Hands Therapy family as their values focus on a comprehensive, holistic, and family-centered approach to supporting children. Being from a small town she is aware of the power of community and connection.

Outside of work, Amie enjoys spending time with her dog, Decoy, on the Deschutes River or at nearby lakes, paddling, hiking, and exploring new areas both in and out of the state. She also enjoys good food and music with friends.
